Jazz Jeremy Sassoon’s MOJO

MOJO (Music Of Jewish Origin) charts the history of Jewish artists and songwriters through the ages. It is narrated and played by Jeremy from the piano, accompanied by his exceptional trio, and bears all the hallmarks of his inimitable style as an entertaining raconteur. It is well researched but the musical story is told from a personal perspective.

Jeremy explains “The theme of Jewish songwriters has been covered before, but I noticed that these usually concentrated on a relatively narrow time frame encompassing the Great American Songbook and Broadway musicals. I decided to widen the scope into a story that covers this period but then progresses through rock and roll and into popular music, right up to the present day. Without wanting to give away too much, my songwriters range from George Gershwin and Irving Berlin through Leiber & Stoller,  Leonard Cohen and Carole King, to Barry Manilow and Amy Winehouse. All in 90 minutes or less!”

So, expect great music, several laughs, some audience participation and a few surprises as Jeremy takes you on his personal journey through the contribution of Jewish songwriters to the wonderful world of contemporary music.

The box office is able to take bookings for one gig at a time, but do make a note of the dates which are of interest to you during our forthcoming season so that you can make your bookings at the appropriate time.

If possible, make your requests via email, but don’t forget to give us a little bit of notice if you know that you are going to be unable to attend.  We appreciate that there will always be unavoidable, unforeseen circumstances, but clearly we want to make places available and fill all possible seats, particularly for gigs in high demand.
