(FEMALE) AUDITION CALL !

Denise is holding an audition on Sunday 16th July at the theatre from 4:00pm to 6:00pm for our production ‘Motherhood‘ to be performed 17th to 21st October this year. The setting is a two-up two-down terraced house in 1954 and 2011.

The cast to be recruited is:-

•  2 females ages  60s
•  1  female 50s
•  1 female  40s
•  2 females late 20s – early 30s

Gloria (60s) is know-it-all mother in law to long suffering
Clare (20s – early 30s)
Susannah (60s) – Clare’s mum, later to suffer onset of dementia.
Betty (20s – early 30s) a mum in the 1950s.
Dot (40s) Betty ‘s sister.
Mabel (late 50s) mother to Betty and Dot in the 1950s

Motherhood has an all female cast and deals with mother and daughter relationships from the 1950s and present day. Last year, Davenham members attended workshops to explore their own memories and experiences of childhood and family life. These workshops resulted in a piece of new writing which is both heartwarming and thought-provoking. Interestingly, director Denise plans to have an all-female backstage crew as well as an all-female cast!

NOTE: On Thursday 6th July at 7.30pm Denise is holding a read through of  ‘Motherhood’ written by Felicity Barry, directed by Denise Barry, Felicity’s mother-in-law.
